Excel 2007 Project 11: Graphs / Formatting

1 Open a new Excel 2007 document How to open a new Excel document

[Page Layout Tab]

Set the Page Orientation to Landscape.

3 Enter the text and data from the paper instructions.

Enter a formula in cell B15 that will add up cells B3-B14.

Use the fill command to put a similar formula in cells C15-E15.

Sort rows 3 - 14 by company name (Column A).

Make sure not to include the TOTALS row when sorting.

 
6 Select columns A - E

[Home Tab]

Click Format in the Cells group and then click Column Width...

The Column Width dialog box will be displayed.

Enter 18 and then click OK.

Cell A1 - E1: Merge & Center

Format: Britannic Bold, 20 pt., dark fill color, light text color.

Cells A2 - E2:

Format: Calibri, 12 pt., bold, center alignment, dark fill color, light text color.

Cells A3 - A15:

Format: Calibri, 11 pt, bold.

Cells A3 - E15:

Format: Currancy Format

Cells A3 - E14:

Format: Alternating light fill colors, black text.

Cells A1 - E15:

Format: "All Borders" border.

[Insert Tab]

Select cells A2 - E14 and insert a "Clustered Column" graph.

16 Move and resize the graph so the corners are in cells A16, E16, A32 & E32.
17 Right click on the company names (Microsoft, etc.) at the bottom of the graph and then click Format Axis...

Click Alignment and then Rotate all text 90°

Click Close

[Chart Tools / Design Tab]

Add a layout style of your choice to the graph.

Change the color of the Chart Area and Plot Area of the graph.

Change the font to Calibri, 12 pt, bold and a color that is easy to read against the Chart Area color.

When you are done the document should look similar to the example on the right:

Save your spreadsheet in your Excel folder as Excel Project 11
